News

Hi all,

Australia Day: No training on Thursday, but the big screen will be setup in the clubrooms to watch the Test Match. The bar will be open and the club will put on some snacks. Bring a comfortable chair and anything else you need for the day.

Op Shop Ball: Thanks to all those who attended the Op Shop ball function. It turned out to be a great night with around 50 people in attendance, with most people dressing up in a great range of outfits.

A grade unfortunately lost a hard fought match on the weekend. Andrew Brigden-Guthrie was the major contributor with the bat with a well made 76. He was well supported by Jason Loos who claimed 3 wickets.
C grade had the bye.
D grade had another excellent victory with 62 with the bat from Michael Brown, and 4 wickets for Tom Kujawski the major contributors.
E grade also had a comfortable victory setup by great performance from the O'Mara's. Leigh made 96 and fell just short of his first ton for the club in his farewell match. Matt then finished with an excellent 3/9 with the ball. It was a well deserved victory for the E grade boys who have had some positive performances recently but unfortunately have not quite managed to get over the line.

Leigh leaves MCC for now to take up a career opportunity in Melbourne and I am sure everyone at MCC would join me in wishing him and Sabina all the best.

Functions: Pink Day - details of next function which will be in February to follow over the next few weeks.

Full fixtures are available on MyCricket.

Regards,
Andrew.

Morley CC England

Our Club is excited to announce on our new website that we have established a relationship with the Morley Cricket Club in England. The relationship has been established with the aim of player exchanges, which will surely benefit both Clubs in the future.
Committee member, Paul Guthrie, will be visiting the Morley Club (UK) in June 2009, with the aim of strengthening the tie between the two clubs.
This event is quite historic for Morley (Aust) as, as far as we know, it is a first for a Club in the Swan & Helena competition.

Josh Walker has committed to play there this coming season and arrangements are being finalised with Morley (UK) at this moment. Any players interested in playing with Morley (UK) next season or any following should contact Paul Guthrie.

You can visit the England Morley CC website Here.

Morley CC England Further Details

Following my visit to Morley CC in England in June 2009, we have moved along considerably with our relationship with our twinned Club.

This season, the Under 14s team from Morley Cricket Club, England, will tour here with a party of 14 adults and 22 children over the period, Sunday 16th October to Sunday 30th October.

Club Coach Des Deering visited Morley in August 2011, during his umpiring tour to York , in the north of England, where he met with Tour Leader, Andy Jenkinson at an U14s training session.

The tour has made headlines in Leeds, as you will see in the following link:
http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/latest-news/central-leeds/leeds_cricket_club_s_australia_trip_1_3818873

Accompanying the tour party will be a 22 year old Chris Dyer, who will be playing here in Perth for the 2011/12 season, which is great boost for our Club and the relationship. Chris will become the first Morley UK player to lay with the MCC here in Perth, reciprocating Josh Walker's year in England in 2009.

The U14s playing schedule will be:
Tuesday 18/10, 9:00am-4:00pm, Belridge Senior High School, 40-50 overs/side; Wednesday 19/10, 9:00am-4:00pm, Belridge Senior High School, 40-50 overs/side; Sunday 23/10, 1:00-6:00pm, BLJCC U/14s, 35 overs/side; Wednesday 26/10, 9:30am-2:30pm, John Forrest Secondary College, 35 overs/side.

Also planned will be one or two 20/20 matches against Beechboro-LockridgeJunior Cricket Club U/14s on weeknights, between 4:00-7:00pm.

There is also a possibility that Bayswater-Morley Districts Cricket Club will host a training session for the squad.

We, at Morley in Perth, hope to host the tour party on Friday 28/10 (public holiday).

There are exciting times ahead and we hope everyone will get behind this venture.

Best wishes to all for the coming season,

Paul Guthrie.
