Hi all,

Great wins for D and E grades on Saturday. Unfortunately A and C grades were defeated.
Note: Back to 2 day mode for A and C grades this week.

A grade were defeated by to Helena Valley at Altone on Saturday. MCC made 148 (Dylan Kularatne 43, Rhys Treanor 24), but unfortunately this was not enough as Helena Valley made 8/169 in reply (Rhys Treanor 3/27, Josh Walker 2/24, Andrew Moschopoulos 2/36). Well done to Rhys on a good all round game.

C grade played Helena Valley at Boya. MCC made 7/126 (Jason Meleka 28, Everard Murray 20) in reply to Helena valley 8/173 (Dave Jecks 3/38, Everard Murray 2/21, Graham Cater 2/32). Unfortunately c grade had an average day in the field which probably gave the opposition a few too many runs.

D grade had an excellent win against Glenn Forrest which should go a long way towards securing a top 2 position and the double chance. Morley made 6/256 (Doug Laing 72, Jeff Carter 59, Glen Carter 30, Ryan Pereira 29, Michael Brown 24) in reply to Glenn Forrest 6/167 (Jeff Carter 3/34).

E grade also continued their excellent recent form with a victory against Les-Maz at Altone. MCC batted first and only made a modest 108 (Gary Allan 38, Chris Goodman 24). E grade then put in an excellent effort in the field to bowl Les-maz out for just 94 (Guy Cohen 4/18, Dave Hubbard 3/14, Ashley Elphick 2/21).

Milestones:
David Allan (500 runs)
Guy Cohen (50 wickets)

Morley CC England

Our Club is excited to announce on our new website that we have established a relationship with the Morley Cricket Club in England. The relationship has been established with the aim of player exchanges, which will surely benefit both Clubs in the future.
Committee member, Paul Guthrie, will be visiting the Morley Club (UK) in June 2009, with the aim of strengthening the tie between the two clubs.
This event is quite historic for Morley (Aust) as, as far as we know, it is a first for a Club in the Swan & Helena competition.

Josh Walker has committed to play there this coming season and arrangements are being finalised with Morley (UK) at this moment. Any players interested in playing with Morley (UK) next season or any following should contact Paul Guthrie.

You can visit the England Morley CC website Here.

Morley CC England Further Details

Following my visit to Morley CC in England in June 2009, we have moved along considerably with our relationship with our twinned Club.

This season, the Under 14s team from Morley Cricket Club, England, will tour here with a party of 14 adults and 22 children over the period, Sunday 16th October to Sunday 30th October.

Club Coach Des Deering visited Morley in August 2011, during his umpiring tour to York , in the north of England, where he met with Tour Leader, Andy Jenkinson at an U14s training session.

The tour has made headlines in Leeds, as you will see in the following link:
http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/latest-news/central-leeds/leeds_cricket_club_s_australia_trip_1_3818873

Accompanying the tour party will be a 22 year old Chris Dyer, who will be playing here in Perth for the 2011/12 season, which is great boost for our Club and the relationship. Chris will become the first Morley UK player to lay with the MCC here in Perth, reciprocating Josh Walker's year in England in 2009.

The U14s playing schedule will be:
Tuesday 18/10, 9:00am-4:00pm, Belridge Senior High School, 40-50 overs/side; Wednesday 19/10, 9:00am-4:00pm, Belridge Senior High School, 40-50 overs/side; Sunday 23/10, 1:00-6:00pm, BLJCC U/14s, 35 overs/side; Wednesday 26/10, 9:30am-2:30pm, John Forrest Secondary College, 35 overs/side.

Also planned will be one or two 20/20 matches against Beechboro-LockridgeJunior Cricket Club U/14s on weeknights, between 4:00-7:00pm.

There is also a possibility that Bayswater-Morley Districts Cricket Club will host a training session for the squad.

We, at Morley in Perth, hope to host the tour party on Friday 28/10 (public holiday).

There are exciting times ahead and we hope everyone will get behind this venture.

Best wishes to all for the coming season,

Paul Guthrie.
